Mr. Gary Brown
July 3, 1964 - July 13, 2021
Gary Brown was called home by his Lord and Savior on July 13, 2021, at the age of 57. Gary’s enthusiasm for life, his positive approach to each day and his steadfast faith all made the world a brighter place. He was truly one of a kind. Gary answered God’s calling to serve the Lord through the Catholic Church. Gary was in the Diaconate Formation Program working toward becoming an ordained Deacon at his parish, St. Francis of Assisi in Milwaukee. Gary was very involved with his parish, serving on the parish council, singing in the choir, and leading bible study groups. Gary volunteered his time in many ways to enrich the lives of those around him, including home visits, serving meals and teaching English as a second language. A lifelong Milwaukee resident, Gary served as a Milwaukee Police Officer for 25 years, serving in the sensitive crime division and as a Field Training Officer sharing his experience and knowledge with new officers. Gary, also a Union Steward, served on the Executive Board of Trustees. After retirement, Gary worked for the Consulate of Mexico before returning to service for the City of Milwaukee as a Police Services Specialist Investigator. Gary’s passion for music started early in life. Being a self-taught musician, he shared his abilities writing and performing as the lead vocalist in the local band Montage. Performing brought so much joy to his life. Gary, an avid sports fan, loved to share his knowledge with everyone he met. His passion for football will live on through his son and grandson, who never missed watching a Super Bowl together. Gary shared his love with the community while coaching youth football in Wauwatosa and semi-professional football locally. Gary touched so many lives during his short time with us and truly will be missed. His family meant the world to him, and they adored him. He was a beloved and devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was so proud to be a dad and was over the moon for his grandchildren, always willing to share a picture or a story with anyone and everyone. He leaves behind his son Marc, daughter-in-law Lauren, grandson Micah and granddaughter Emerson. Gary is survived by his mother Maggie, brothers Willie Jr. (Nora), Ricky (Cathy), Craig (Sandra), niece Kizzy Marie and many more treasured nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. Gary has joined his many loved ones called home before him, including his father Willie Sr., cherished sister Charlotte, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Gary will live on in our hearts and we will love him forever. Gary made us better people. Love4oneanother Visitation will be held on Monday, July 19th beginning at 9:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1927 Vel R. Phillips Ave, Milwaukee, WI.
